Kapodistrias Fellowship

The Kapodistrias Residential Fellowship is a joint initiative of the European Cultural Centre of Delphi and the Science and Research Centre Koper (ZRS Koper), Slovenia, designed to foster international academic mobility, interdisciplinary research, and dialogue among diverse intellectual and cultural traditions.

Bearing the name of Ioannis Kapodistrias —an emblematic figure who helped connect the Greek, Mediterranean, and European worlds— the Fellowship seeks to support scholars whose work transcends narrow disciplinary or national boundaries and contributes to new ways of understanding history, culture, and the human experience.

The programme is addressed to researchers in the humanities and social sciences and offers the opportunity for a residential stay in Koper, Slovenia, within a vibrant research environment dedicated to scholarly inquiry, intellectual exchange, and international collaboration. Through this partnership, the European Cultural Centre of Delphi expands its network of international collaborations and further strengthens its role as a meeting place for scholars, intellectuals, and cultural practitioners from different countries and academic traditions.

This initiative draws inspiration from two intertwined traditions: the Delphic tradition of encounter and dialogue, and the cosmopolitan European legacy of Ioannis Kapodistrias. Both embody the conviction that knowledge and self-understanding emerge not from isolation, but from engagement with different experiences, languages, and intellectual traditions. In this spirit, the Kapodistrias Residential Fellowship stands as another expression of the European Cultural Centre of Delphi’s enduring mission to foster dialogue and cooperation across Greece, the Mediterranean, and Europe.
