From September 25 to December 8 2013, the B. & M. Theocharakis Foundation and the European Cultural Centre of Delphi organised the exhibition “C.P. Cavafy ‘Painted’-40 Contemporary Greek Artists”, curated by the art historian and critic Takis Mavrotas, Director of the Foundation’s Fine Arts Program.
The aim of the exhibition was to highlight the possibilities of the co-existence of poetic discourse of K.P.Kavafy and the visual arts through a hundred and more paintings, sculptures, engraving, drawings, and visual installations of distinguished Greek artists.
Artists: Tetsis, Theocharakis, Karas, Tsoklis, Xenakis, Mytaras, Fasianos, Sorogas, Makroulakis, Drougas, Isaris, Levidis, Fanakidis, Psychopaidis, Arvanitis, Xenou, Adamakos, Daskalakis, Papadimitriou, Manousakis, Arfaras, Varotsos, Gonou, Papasaikas, Bokoros, Sakayan, Spiliopoulos, Haros, Madenis, Athanasiadis, Gyparakis, Rorris, Psychoulis, Charalambidis, Papailiakis, Houdalakis, Sofianopoulos and Stoantzikis.
Also presented were works by Nikos Hatzikyriakos-Ghikas and Yannis Tsarouchis as well as manuscripts by Cavafy and publications from the collections of the Benaki Museum-Ghika Gallery and the Yannis Tsarouchis Foundation, the private collections of Dionysis Fotopoulos, Fani Palli-Petralia, Zacharias Portalakis, Dimitris Savvidis, Petros Vergos, Thanasis Michaelidis, of the “Ikaros” and “Ermis” publications, etc.
