Anatoli Vasiliev returned to Delphi, at a very difficult time for theatre and culture, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with an extremely interesting educational Seminar for young actors and directors as well as students of Drama Schools and students of Theatre Studies Departments of Higher Education Institutions, from July 7 to 11, 2021.
One of the top contemporary European directors and a distinguished representative of Russian theater, Anatoli Vasiliev had a remarkable presence in Greece and for years he was a collaborator of the European Cultural Centre of Delphi. In 1995 he directed a workshop on Homer’s ILIAD, in 2000 he presented POLITEIA and in 2001 Plato’s SYMPOSIUM. In 2006, a magnificent production of ILIAD was presented at the FRYNICHOS theatre and in 2007 the MEDEA MATERIAL by Heiner Muller with the distinguished French actress Valerie Dreville.
At the Delphi Seminar, Anatoli Vasiliev and three of his selected collaborators-teachers, Ivan Kotik, Ilya Kozin and Jerzy Klesik taught. The practical training was complemented by lectures by Vasiliev himself and his collaborator, translator, author and theater historian, Natalia Isaeva.
A cycle of speeches and discussions also took place with the participation of Greek and foreign speakers.
